Welcoming the new Mazda CX-5 to the South African market has exceeded all expectations. This new crossover has us thinking what we have done without it for so long, with intelligent features and design, tasteful interior, refined handling and a polished exterior, this beautiful machine has it all.
Mazda's goal to blend the looks of a sports-car is definitely met with the new Mazda CX5, slim headlights, sharper 3D grille and less rounded side creases that create a lower, fast looking machine.
The Mazda CX 5 is available in petrol and diesel models. The petrol version offers a choice of a 2.0-litre or 2.5-litre engine. The 2.0-litre delivers 121kW and 210 Nm of torque, in a choice of Active or Dynamic trim levels as well as manual and automatic variants. The 2.5-litre model delivers 142kW and 257Nm of torque, available in Individual Spec, which is one up on the Dynamic and comes with an automatic gearbox. Two diesel models are available in automatic, that deliver 129 kW and 420 Nm of torque. The 2.2 turbo diesel Akera boosts an all-wheel drive.
Stepping inside the CX5 you will notice the most significant changes. Delivering the latest in connectivity, USB ports are located in the front and rear of the cabin, MZD Connect allows the driver to safely access smart phones contacts, social media and music, a standard feature on all models.
Safety is of utmost importance to Mazda, the CX 5 is built with a rigid body frame, 6 SRS airbags, (available throughout all models) Dynamic Stability Control, Emergency Brake Assist and Electronic Brake-force Distribution ensure safety.
